A long overdue addition here, these are images from Emerson's 2nd birthday session. Adorable shots and a nice collage so she can keep up with her brothers. :)
This is just another example of my self-diagnosed A.D.D.
I forgot to post these, but better late than never! These turned out too good not to show them. Nick had a plan for his time at the park (Brecknock Park), and it didn't include slowing down for portraits. If you follow my work at all, you know that doesn't bother me. I prefer to capture portraits without posing. With this type of session, I try to fall back and blend into the surroundings. No, I don't wear camouflage (hmm...maybe that's not a bad idea).
Just some of the results of some quality time with mom (Dawn) and son at the beach. I only had to walk 57 blocks to make it to the boardwalk and meet them...but it was totally worth it! We started planning this just after Thomas' last session a year ago. This type of session is along the lines of a "lifestyle" session and among my favorite type of shoot...especially with "old" friends. :)
Be sure to check out the collage at the end.
I love this shot! Check out Thomas, checking out those bikini babes.
Here is the link to one of my favorite LifeStyle albums ever! These sessions are some of my favorites to do. Not a bunch of over-posed and static images. This is a natural and fun approach to capturing the real family. I always appreciate being welcomed into a family's life like this, and it is truly rewarding to be able to hand over albums they can, and do absolutely treasure. Did I mention I love doing LifeStyle sessions?
Here at last, some images of the new book I'm offering. I'm also adding this to the wedding albums that I offer. They call it a "Fine Art Book" and it definitely is that. You can see the spreads, and the photo-cover that wraps from front to back (very cool). Check out the closeup shot and note how the crease between left and right sides is barely visible.
If you've read previous posts, you may remember mention of a newer style of family portrait session. I spend several hours with a family while they do family things. The kids play by themselves, with each other, and with Mom and Dad. They do the everyday things that families do. The kind of things that we all did, reminisce about - and wish we'd taken more (or at least better) pictures of. I've just received my first book from a new company I've added to my offerings and it is BEAUTIFUL! The book is designed in "spreads", meaning I don't design a "left" and "right" page, I design both as one spread. They bind the book in a way where the center crease is barely perceptible. I'll post some images of the actual book shortly, but I wanted to try out posting a video. If it works, this is my second design... *if you can't view the video, click here: Family album
I really prefer a natural, non-posey style of photography - whether it is a portrait session, or a wedding. For families...there's no place like home...when it comes to natural and comfortable environments. After attending a three-day workshop in Leesburg, VA with Australian photographer David Williams, I knew I needed to shift the emphasis of my work from studio to location. One of my most long-time, loyal clients/friends...the Otts, adopted me for a few hours and we captured great stuff. This is all going into an album that will rock!
I can't believe it's been one year already. With the images from today, we've got everything we need for the "My First Year" album. For anyone unfamiliar, these albums are coffee-table book style albums with an emphasis on contemorary design. Ps- delicious cake...thanks Theresa and Stan! A little post-cake cleanup was in order...
