Jolene and Derrick's wedding

Between the new website, designing wedding albums, and a trip last week to Illinois for an awesome (and unbelievably cold) three day portrait/wedding workshop...I have been neglecting the blog.
What better way to get back to it, than with some images and a slideshow from Derrick and Jolene's wedding. Here are just a few favorites, with a link to more in the slideshow...

My new website is LIVE!!!

Well, I'm very excited. I just used three exclamation points in the title...I think that says it all.
This has been a long process, and I'm not actually finished. But, it's finally to the point where I feel it's ready for the world to see.
I still have images to add from my portrait sessions, and my weddings, so to my existing clients - please don't feel left out.

I welcome feedback!

Does it load quickly?
What images do you love?
Which ones just don't do it for you?
Is it user-friendly?
Do you wish there was some music playing along, or are you glad it isn't playing at all?

The link is posted under the "links" section, or you can just click...

Christmas portraits without the painted fireplace

Okay, that's a bit of an unusual title for this post, but I do have a point...really.
The point is that I cringe when I receive an inquiry for "Christmas portraits" and I'm asked which holiday backgrounds I have. The fact is, I don't have any - it's just not my style. Please don't misunderstand, I very much enjoy creating portraits at any time of the year - for any occasion. But, the primary interest should be the person, and not the background. Also, the holidays are a time when people get together. This is an ideal time to be photographed in your home. See what I mean...

Holiday portrait sessions

I'm still a bit swamped, so I'm combining a few favorite images from two different sessions. Some might call it lazy... I prefer to call it efficient!

Dustin and Cathy got married!

I've been very busy lately and struggling a little to keep up.
Dustin and Cathy, here is your slideshow, and tomorrow (actually, later today) I'll post some additional images to go with it.
Starbucks brought us together...there can be no greater bond. :)

Timeless family portraits

Paula (Mom) contacted me after attending an event that reenforced the importance of family portraits. The details aren't important for this post, but the message is.
It's very easy to postpone having your family photographed - we're all very busy.
And that's fine, until something tragic happens, and we realize that all of those things that kept us so busy weren't nearly as important as we thought. If you asked most people this question: "If your house was on fire, and you could only take one thing (as in non-breathing thing, of course) - what would it be?" Family photographs would be the unanimous answer, I'd bet.
To sum this up - don't put it off any longer.
Paula didn't, and look what we got...

Taylor's senior portraits

Taylor's Mom came with Matt's Mom to view the results of his senior portrait session. Click "October 2006" in the Archives (if you missed them)...

She liked that Matt's images weren't the "same old" senior portraits. So naturally, when we did Taylor's outdoor session, that was the goal. Actually, that's always my goal. I think we were successful!
